Orthopaedic conditions are treated differently across the UK. Children's orthopaedic surgeons have now united to identify best care.

BOSS is the British Orthopaedic Surgery Surveillance Study. This recruits patients from 143 hospitals in the UK. In just over 1-year we have collected over 750 new cases of Perthes' Disease and Slipped Epiphysis (both very rare diseases).

British Surgeons
Almost every hospital has active representation in this study (143 hospitals) - see

If you or your child were diagnosed with Perthes' Disease or SCFE between 1st April 2016 and 30th Sept 2017 your surgeon should hopefully have asked you to participate in the study (this may have involved completing study some questions either in person, by post or they may have given you a code to complete respond online).

Studies are sponsored by the University of Liverpool, UK. Site updated 21st August 2017.
